Default stock sport wheels and keeping them clean...

...I got my car (99.5 A4 1.8TQM) and it had the sport package wheels. I finally got a chance to clean them as soon as it stopped snowing here in Michigan. Now, they will be clean for about a day before they are covered with a fine black film. What do you do to keep them clean???

Default The issue is probably your brake pads...

factory brake pads have a tendency to dust A LOT! You can replace the pads with Mintex Red Box pads (available at www.awe-tuning.com), which only put out 20% of the dust the factory pads do. A set of pads, front and rear, should be about $100, and will cost you about 3 hours of labor at your local mechanic. Changing the pads yourself will take you about the same amount of time, IF you have all the tools handy. If not, you'll probably be cursing because you can't remove stubborn bolts, or because you can't push the piston back far enough to get the pads to fit over the rotors.

Step 2, after you wash your wheels, wax them. A coat of wax, once a month or so will make it exceedingly easy to wash off brake dust accumulation.
