Default I don't use flannel but I think folks use flannel and microfiber for the same stuff..

Polishes/glazes, removing wax, quick detailing spray, final buff.

Default Nothing car related...

Use microfiber or 100% cotton towels for detailing your car. Save the flannel for something else.

Default Flannel cloths are not a "must use" item, but I've found they work well for final buffing.

Don't use flannel cloths with detailing spray; they tend to push the spray around on the paint, leading to streaks. Flannel also tends to load up pretty fast, so in my experience it isn't best for removing glaze or wax. However flannel is great for final buffing. But... microfiber works just as well for final buffing, and it works well for all of the other purposes mentioned here too. This is why I haven't used my flannel cloths very much since discovering microfiber.

Default Lint and pushing the cleaner around are the two biggest complaints of flannel. Microfiber is...

lint free and does a great job for cleaning and for buffing.

Microfiber Cloths

Default historical artifact at this point ...

i use them mainly in situations where i would not dare risk dirtying a microfiber towel (e.g., first pass on cleaning windows).

Default Flannel is great for the final buff. So far, all the MF I've tried leaves lint all over the car.

Not so with my flannel towels. Dust free, lint free and shiney as heck.

Default where are you getting your microfiber from?

i've *never* ever had any lint from my microfiber towels... that's one of the reasons i can't imagine detailing without them :-)

where did you get your microfiber from? also, were you careful to wash them separately from all your other towels?

Linens and Things and yes, washed and dried separately. Dried 'em like 5 times too.
