Default those of you who live where it snows, do you wash your car during the winter?

or just leave that layer of dirt/crud/etc on until spring?

(yes, yes, I know it's bad to leave that layer of dirt on your paint, but wondering about the logistics, since as soon as you drive a block in snow, it gets completely filthy again)

Default Wash it.

I've done the steaming hot bucket of water and rubber gloves thing many times before.

But if you see a winter storm in the forcast, don't bother.

Default I'll do it if the weather breaks 45 degrees...

otherwise, if the car is covered in salt, I just take it to a self serve place, and rinse it down with the high pressure washers.

Default Steaming water strips wax. You may be doing less for your car than just

leaving it alone.

Default So, just because you're going to wear those boxers again next week means you'll forego

washing them today? It never hurts to stay ahead of the weather, or at least neck and neck.

Default I always wash in Winter at least once per week.......

If the outside temps are above 26 degrees I wash outside and then pull into my heated garage for drying and detailing. (I always dreamed of a heated grarage and just love it). Temp lower than 26 and I wash inside. I have special grit trapping floor drains. The reason I don't wash all the time inside because it is a lot of trouble. Water everywhere and takes a lot of clean up time. I really do not mind the cold temps but driveway black ice can make walking a problem. BTW a really clean A4 in the Winter attracts lots of attention.

Default I do it when the temps allow. The rest of the time I feel "bad" about...

...my dirty car :-(

After driving on salt-covered roads, I do rinse the salt off the car with a couple of watering cans of warm water. It doesn't get the car clean, but the salt rinses right off very easily, which makes me feel a little better.

I think right now I must be going on close to a month without washing my S4. I'm hoping to wash it over my holiday vacation.
