Default hmm, at least on my finishes, i've seen no issues from the acid ...

granted, i try to keep use to a minimum, but i'd rather not burn through my clear needlessly with a polish.

Default Might be burning through the clear either way.

At some pH and some level of time, that clearcoat will break down. At what point that happens, and how much is undetermined. Kimchee has previously posted paint depth results from polishing, and unless you're doing it on a weekly basis, it was pretty clear to me that the amount of paint being removed from a proper polishing was very very small.

Default Yep, Space Gray. I really like gray/silver cars for both their looks and easy upkeep.

Your 535xi looks sweet.

Default it's not. i have a paint depth gauge too, remember? :-)

the acid is on the car for a very short period of time, and washed off afterwards. if there were residual effects in my case, i would've seen them by now (since i first did it several years ago).

anyway, i'm merely presenting an alternative that worked for me. sometimes, polishing out water spots can take a lot of effort and actually require a measurable amount of clear to be removed (e.g., .25 mil).
