Default Waxing?

My normal routine is to wash the car with a MF wash mitt, dry with MF towels, and then go over it with a quick detail spray.

With winter approaching and the good weather days running out, I would like to give it some protection from the winter road salt (ton of it here in upstate NY!). What products are recommended? Is clay the same as wax?

Also, we have a laser touchless car wash here, is that a suitable option for winter washing or will it damage the paint?

can you wash the car thru out the winter or do you just want to protect it and pretty much forget about it.

My winter options for washing, is the touchless laser car wash I mentioned or I can do the self serve wash. Last winter I would do the self serve about once a week to just get the road salt off. With the self serve, the booth is not heated so the water freezes before I can dry it off, is that bad?

I actually did a real thorough hand wash today, followed by meguiares quick detail spray, then waxed it with this:

Results look great. Now that I understand the clay I think it would have been good if I clayed it before waxing, because if I run my fingers along the paint I do feel tiny bumps/specs. Nothing visible though.

So, should I be protected for the winter with this wax I applied?
And are the laser washes a good option or should I stick to self serve?
