Default What do dry my wife's new black Q5 with?

My wife and I washed her new black Q5 last night for the first time. When it came time to dry the vehicle we had some terry towels, a microfiber towel and a 100% real chamoi. We used the microfiber towel to get most of the water off and then went back over the vehicle with teh chamoi but it still looked streaked after the chamoi went over the vehicle, but after about 5 minutes the vehilce looked dry. What are we doing wrong? I've always had light cover vehicles and not worried about having to dry them until now. I need help. Any insight or advise would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I would stay away from using terry towels on any car, especially black. You may need two MF waffel drying towels so avoid them getting too wet thus leaving streaks. If that doesn't work, finish with a quick detail spray and a MF cloth to remove streaks.

you can use the hose and sheet the water off from the top/roof of the car.

then you can use a couple of jumbo waffle weave towels to dry it off.

(some have spritz detail spray right after they have sheeted the water off, this will give it a nice shine and condition the water a bit)

Then dry.

I prefer large waffel microfiber drying towels. Phil sells them.

I the blue jumbo waffle weave from phil and it works great. I also do the sheeting method along with spraying the car down with some detail spray.

I prefer to use a blower (leaf blower) right after i sheet the water, especial around the side view mirrors and trunk area. Then a large MF towel and some detail spray. The next question is what wax are you going to use on the black Q5? I like DODO juice Blue Velvet (detailed image) or Lusso Oro Premium Wax (detailers domain).

Since it is new, I would definitely apply FMJ (aka: full metal jacket)ASAP. I have found this to be the best sealant. You can this at detailers domain or detailed image.

the only way to avoid swirl marks on a black vehicle is to never dry it. Like th eposter above me suggested, Zaino is very good. It is pretty time ocnsuming, especially for a vheicle the size of the Q5.

Zaino is the way to go.
