Best bet is to ignore them and when your hood is chipped to hell, spend $300-400 and have it repainted if it bothers you.
Or just get some x-pel/clear bra type product to prevent further chips.

....like using a toothpick instead of the touch-up bottle brush to apply the paint. And many thin layers instead of one thick blob. There's a lot of good advice in the carcareonline article, even if you don't follow the steps 100%.

You basically have 3 choices with chips: (1) ignore them and learn to live with them; (2) touch them up; (3) have the affected area repainted at a body shop.
The big issue with touch up is that while it may be color-matched, it's a different kind of paint and is being applied differently from the way the rest of the car is painted (blobbed on versus sprayed). With metallic paints the touch-up fix will just never match the original paint in appearance. With a color like black (which like other dark colors really shows chips), the chances of a good match are much better. Then it's just a question of application technique so that you don't end up with little blobs all over the finish.
I've ordered the "AutoSharp Pen" just to see how it works on my wife's black wagon. Sounds interesting.

AutoSharp Pen
