Default What is the real longevity of these caranuba based waxes?

I am pondering adding a caranuba topper on top of the 4-Star UPP for more shine and depth. I was looking at the Adams Butter wax and other caranuba based waxes.

But i park in the sun everyday here in Colorado at 6000' of elevation. I am curious how long this Caranuba topper will last? Is it even worth adding, or just more of hassle?

Default its not worth adding from a "protection" standpoint

what you are doing when adding a natural on top of a synthetic is to enhance depth or shine depending on color.

The general ule on waxes is
50% gone in 30 days
75% gone in 60 days
and gone by 90

But again, you wont be on the paint with it, you'll be on another coat of wax and bonding issues come in to play, so on a "topper" you could expect about 30 or so days of benefit.

Take 15 extra minutes and do a panel or two and see what you see. In most cases the difference is very negligable.

Agree 100%...one of the few to understand wax v. synthetic and their effects. ; ).

i just wasn't sure how long the caranuba would last. Thanks for the link.

Default I use carnuba cause I dont mind waxing.

Next wax I'll be stripping it down layering FMJ and topping with a couple of coats of P21S or Souveran. Volcano black looks really good with carnuba.

Default agree...

longest lasting are synthetics. Meg's Hi Tech Yellow Wax has pretty good longevity for OTC.

If you use someting like P21S, and have a harsh environment/outside, plan on 3 weeks.

But it looks great for 3 weeks.

P21S is a good "cheat" on top of 'Z' for depth, glow and "sheeting" for a garage queen.

Default Re: What is the real longevity of these caranuba based waxes?

I have been using Harly's 100% carnuba for over 30 years. It lasts longer than anything else that I have tried. I do not put it on top of anything except clean paint.
The only time I used a synthetic was on a silver car and it was a disaster. It was a '72 so the paint was definitely not as good as what we get today.
