Default Whos got best price on 7424? Boat detailing question inside

Already have the PC for years now, want to buy one for my FIL for his boat. What different products do I need to use for boat pads/polish/protect? I assume you dont use auto products on the boats ?gelcoat? surface. TIA

Default you need gelcoat specific products. It also depends on how much work you are doing.

We buff boats with Rotarys using 3M perfect it rubbing compound, then polish out with Meguiar's 45 high gloss polish. Then we use Klasse SG (bonds to gelcoats) but, we found that Collinite Insulator Wax 845 (which is the same as Collinite Fiberglass Boat Wax 925) lasts longer.

If we don't need to buff, we start with a lesser compound by using Meguiar's 49 oxidation remover. Use a Yellow Cutting Pad or a Wool Pad. You will spend twice the time trying to remove oxidation with anything other than those 2 pads. Then polish it out with Meguiar's 45 high gloss polish and then your protectant.
Clean your pad often, gelcoat products cake up very quickly and are very thick and heavy in consistency. You will rip apart pads very quickly. To give you an idea, we used 13 yellow pads, 8 orange pads and 5 green pads on a 70 ft yacht to buff and polish the entire hull (above water line, superstructure, deck, bridge, etc).

Boats are fun........not really
