Thanks to Nick Gustas for posting it in the Feedback Forum, when I couldn't link to the original post...credit goes to Bill Schultz for analyzing this stuff way back in 1997!
To make 1 liter of the original fluid that Audi puts in our cars upon delivery, you'll need to mix the following:
488 ml Isopropyl Alcohol*
162 ml Methanol*
350 ml Water
*use "pure" components. Rubbing alcohol available at your pharmacy is roughtly 20% isopropyl. Chemical supply houses should be able to get you 99.9% pure substances.

The natural urge is to find the simplest easiest way to produce a shine. To that end, yes, he will be using a spray wax on his car. One fine day, he'll come back and ask how to make it last longer and look better. Until that day, you're only pushing the rock up the hill, only to find it back at the bottom of the hill by day's end.

-It adds Rain-X water repellancy
-won't freeze
-it's cheap
Remember washer fluid doesn't just end up on the windshield, it splatter all over the place. In my case you can see where washer fluid land due to the minute splatter stains on my hood and roof.
With the Rain-X stuff if it land on the paint work it's ok, won't damage the hours of wax work you've put into your car...
