Default would you use Detailer's Pride or Lexol or Connolly's leather cleaner to ....

clean the ecru seats in a 9 year old car that's probably never had any leather conditioning by the previous owners?

The interior is clean except the seats have a grime on them that needs to be lifted out of leather.

After searching the forums, its seems these are mentioned most for routine maintenance on the leather.

I'm wondering what to use to get a good clean and then start the maintenance?

Thanx in advance,
Greg

Default Try the Zaino stuff (see my post below.) It's really nice, smells like new leather and...

leaves your seats soft but not greasy. Do a search and you'll see a lot of raves about it. It's called "leather in a bottle".
I bought mine at: www.zainostore.com - about $20 for both the cleaner and conditioner bottles plus shipping. Worth it!

Default Leather master products. first you need to know if it is aniline or protected.

by far the best cleaner, and then conditioner combo.

http://www.leatherworldtech.com/category.aspx?categoryID=24

Default but that is not true with other manufactures. the key is it Dyed and un protected

dyed and protected, Nu-buck, or suede. These all require very different aproaches to achieve maximum effect.

Default if when you take a moistend towel and rub an inconspicous area the dye rubs off

then you have an unprotected leather, and should use those products specific for that.

If not you have a protected leather.

This does not include, nu-buck, suede, or Audi pleather.
