Default X Post: Best way to remove paint scrape from another vehicle?

Another car scraped me in the lot. When I was wiping the area down it looks like the other car's paint will come off (I was able to flake off a little when wiping it down.) It looks like my paint probably has some surface scratches, but if I could somehow get that other paint off it would look a million times better. It's not a large spot so I'd hate to take it to a body shop.

Default try using a polishing compound

I've had that before. I used the 3M Finesse It compund. I think thats what is called. I followed that with some 3M IHG and a coat of Blitz wax. If you have a PC, it might be easier. I didn't have one at the time, so I did it by hand.

Default Those scrapes come off very easily

use a very light compound or polish, you might need to use it 2 or 3 times.

In a pinch with a rental car in Italy once, I used Crest toothpaste! Worked great and smelled nice too.

Default Probably more aggressive than needed.

No need for anything abrasive, at least not on the first try. A relatively mild chemical polish, like One Grand Special Touch, will take paint like that off. Has worked for me. Follow with glaze and wax.

Default Toothpaste will scratch though.

Of course, sometimes desperate circumstances call for desperate measures........

.......after clay, 1 Grand Special touch, etc., haven't worked. You can always get more agressive.
