Default Interested in improving the handling of my C6 by reducing unsprung weight.

Are the big brake kits from Brembo and Stoptech heavier than stock?

Default You usually lose several lb/corner, but ...

The weight savings is all the result of the aluminum hat of the 2-piece rotor.

Default

Do you think that will be offset by the larger brake caliper + larger discs?

Default Expect large net weight savings.

The S8's front rotor does have a very large offset, but here's my experience.

Front: net 10 lb/corner after upgrading from 4-pot Brembo with 345x30 rotor to 6-pot Alcon with 355x32 Alcon rotor.
Rear: net 5 lb/corner savings after upgrading the rotor only from 280x22 to 290x20 using the same caliper.

Default Thanks. Do you think the StopTechs will have the same weight savings?

Thinking of a 322 rotor.

Default Depends primarily on the rotor offset.

The major weight savings depends on the amount of steel swapped for aluminum, which depends on that offset, and whether it's increased or decreased by a caliper adapter.

Here's my rear 290mm rotor, and you can see how much steel was eliminated from the 280mm rotor in the background. Perhaps check with StopTech; they might (should) have weight data on your specific application.

Default Answer to: Interested in reducing unsprung weight.

99% of Brembo BBK's reduce the total weight from the OEM braking system.

As mentioned, the most significant savings comes from the used of the 2pc. floating disc w/ the aluminum hat/bell. Our 4-piston calipers also reduce weight when compared to the heavy cast iron calipers used by Audi.

Here's some examples of weight savings on the Audi cars....

B5 Audi S4 (OEM) - Disc=21.5lbs Caliper=15.5lbs
Brembo 332mm kit - Disc=15.2lbs Caliper=11.2lbs
Unsprung Weight - Disc= -6.3lbs Caliper= -4.3lbs

B4 Audi A4 (OEM) - Disc=16.5lbs Caliper=12.7lbs
Brembo 328mm kit - Disc=13.0lbs Caliper=8.7lbs
Unsprung Weight - Disc= -3.5lbs Caliper= -4.03lbs

Default You will save weight.

We saved 9lb a corner on a B7A4 going up to the Brembo 355mm 6piston caliper setup.
The calipers and rotors were both individually lighter than their stock counterparts.

Let us know if you need any help with Brembo components.

Default

Thanks. Assume the discs themselves are aluminium as well, vs steel for stock.

Default Thanks all. All three of you seem to be Brembo fans. While I know they're great, esp with

race applications, no one seems to rate StopTech. I here good things about them too. Don't intend to track the car, and looking at the 322 Stoptech which would fit my 17 inch rims perfectly.

Also, do any of you ship to Singapore
