A quick heads up to anyone considering buying an Audi in the US and importing it back to Canada.
As part of the process you will need to acquire a letter from Audi Canada stating that the car does not have any current or outstanding recalls against it.
When I approached my local dealership in Alberta I was told that this letter would cost me $240. I said "no thanks" and reported the matter to Audi Canada.
The letter is in fact issued by Audi Canada and does not carry a cost to the recipient. It is free.
It would appear that some Canadian dealerships are attempting to cash in on the increase of imported US spec cars by gouging people for free paperwork.
This is a fairly serious matter, and if you encounter it, I recommend you report it to Audi Canada immediately.

I just imported a Mazda today, and got the letter from Mazda USA. Either way, I'm sure they (Audi Canada) would have the same recall information as Audi USA.
