What's working with Audi here, or at least what I think, is that a lot of people recognize BMW and MB as the prestigious brands in North America. Audi has more or less been behind these two brands, especially with them first trying to re-establish themselves in the late 90s.

I recall discussion where the idea of the Q7 was 'stupid' and that it wouldn't sell, but it fits perfectly into that desired market as it's obviously selling in Canada, and heck, I'm starting to see more Q7s than A4s here in this part of town.

If Audi can package the cars where if you try and compare it apples-to-apples, the two will be very similarly priced. Of course, there are the few people who used to drive Audi continue to complain about how Audi is a bit behind on delivering performance compared to BMW (mind you you can say the same about the AMG's just leaving both the M and RS cars in the dust) but to me, it's about the overall package.
