'02 A6 2.7 with factory Bose unit with the 6 CD that loads through the front of the unit.
Car is out of warranty.

When I press the CD button I get a " CD1 err 3" message on the unit's display screen.

I did some searching here, but, seems everyone that had this issue just took it back to the dealer for replacement of the unit under warranty.

Any helpful suggestions if the car is no longer under warranty? I'd prefer not to go to an aftermarket unit and would prefer to fix the factory unit if it's possible.

I'm in Calgary if anyone has an audio shop that is familiar with these units to recommend.

As in replace the broken factory Bose unit with a RNS-E navi system found in newer Audis.

since the car does not have NAVI, just buying a NAVI stero won't give me NAVI, so what would be the advantage to this newer system be?

I'm just looking to fix the existing factory unit which is working fine, other than the CD player not accepting CD's. I'm not looking for a multi thousand dollar upgrade.

Are there lots of used RNS systems around and do they just fit into the same dash hole as the exisiting unit?
What do used ones sell for?

It's covered under the CPO warranty, did you get it?

I didn't purchase the car from an Audi dealer and if I had warranty, I wouldn't have asked for help.
