Default changing timing belt & water pump

I have a 97 1.8T and I will be replacing my timing belt, water pump and thermostat. I was quoted $1000 CDN. labour and parts. Does that sound right? I've been driving Honda's before this car and to replace those parts isn't even close to that amount.
