Front plate in Ontario - if I have it in the car will I get off with a warning?

depends on the cops mood obviously
but they can give you a ticket if they feel like it.
being the nature of the CLS i think your chances are safer than most cars on getting away with it.

Do know a few that did get a ticket and said that if they go back and show that the plate is properly mounted then they'll disregard the photo. I also know others that don't have a plate and never got pulled over.
Your luck may vary, but the highway traffic act clearly states that a front plate is required and must be displayed outside of the car.
You could get a blank middle insert, glue on some strong magnets behind it, and attach the magnets also to the back of the plate so you can easily put it on/off, one of the guys on the B7 forum did that if I recall correctly, been thinking about doing that myself but not going to bother anymore as I'm too damn lazy!
