FYI: Esso has added 10% Ethanol to it's Premium Fuel 91 and that's why the price is the same as 89..

Doesnt alcohol (ethanol or Methanol) have a "longer burn" time...
this is what i understood from Chemestry...that the alcohol actulally burns for a longer period of time in the combustion chamber vs gasoline. thus giiving the alcohol burning engine more power.

Hmmm...
Longer burn time doesn't necessarily equate to more power. It's just that the release of the energy takes more time vs the energy being released all at once, hence why it's used to increased octane rating is my guess. Nevertheless, the BTU in ethanol when compared to the same amount of regular gasoline, ethanol is less.

Longer burn time would be a negative, alcohol engines
can deliver more power because they are more resistant to detonation (come to think of it, maybe a longer burn time could be beneficial if you could advance the ignition timing more for a given load)so higher compression can be used with alcohol fuel. The fuel contains less energy per unit volume so more fuel is required to produce the power.
