There are two school of thoughts
Accelerate quickly to get to the speed you want then get into the highest gear possible.
Or slow accelerate to get to the speed you want, when in fact you're using more gas to get to that speed.
Of course, stop and go traffic has a huge negative impact to mileage.

Not at all. He pulled a couple of gears..that's all. I was in a garage, I heard
the unmistakeable Milltek sound but before I could rush out to flag you/him down, he was gone.
Car sounds awesome....that's why your gas mileage sucks. You probably love listening to it.

So are either one right??
I asked my friend about that a while back. I was thinking the first "school of thought" listed but he says that the second one is right because it doesn't matter your rpm, it has to do with the throttle. But I'd think the RPM would be really closely related to your throttle and gear.
So is the first one wrong?
Just wondering.

There was some long drawn explanation between the two
Involving math, then my head started to spin. The thing is when you're accelerating, whether fast or slow, you're always using more gas vs maintaining constant speed. So the sooner you get to that constant speed (and keeping it as long as you can), the better off your fuel mileage hence the first option is what I subscribe to.
Visti might be doing that also more to just hear the exhaust but the speed never is kept constant
