Default How do insurance companies find out about your record?

Do they get the EXACT same abstract sheet that you get when you pay $10 at the MTO ?

Does that abstract sheet also show suspensions? or are suspensions shown another way?

Default In the US, insurance companies have access to the same DMV records that contain the driver history.

I think it is the same in Quebec. Not sure about Ontario and other provinces.

There is a certain amount of lag time before the history is refreshed but it will eventually.

Default In Canada, insurance companies pay to get the same driver's abstracts from the MTO.

They do them en mass orders and they are requested periodically to coincide with all customers who are up for renewal.

Default Awsome. I just got my abstract, and there is no mention of my license being suspended 4 times

for unpaid fines within 1 year.

I'm assuming that is because it was suspended for unpaid fines for a non-moving violation.

I'm a very happy person today.

Default Yes, this includes non-payment, comprehensive claims, etc.

These are things that are directly related to dealing with the insurance company that the MTO doesn't know about. So if you have concelled insurance, missed payments, claims that did not involve the police or were never reported to the Vehicle Collision Reporting Centre.

Default correct... it also includes details of claims other than comp. .. however...

I do not think it would contain licence suspensions... that is for sure MTO territory
