I calculated the fuel economy in my car (I was bored). Mixed driving is 10.2L/100km...

Drove 555 km on 56.8 litres. 360 km consisted of driving on the 400 north at 140 km/h but also include about 30 minutes of stop and go traffic (0-50 km/h) when I was returning to the city. The remaining kms were accumulated in semi-spirited city driving (I do not baby the engine).
Not bad for a modded engine with 240chp/260ctq (stock is 170chp/166ctq).
Stock fuel economy: 11.3 L/100 km (city) and 7.5 L/100 km (hwy).

The car read 0 when I filled up. Put in about 50L (tank read full) and got 425 kms with 20 kms left in the tank before I put some more gas in.
So let's say I can get 450 out of a full tank (w/o getting into reserve) with mixed city and hwy.
Keeping in mind the driving was very conservative and generally shifting at 2k rpm in the city as to minimize turbo usage (I only did this to see what is the "max" mileage I can get from the car).
My car only has a chip and darintake.
Is this good or bad compared to the general B5 S4 population?

Very elementary and not scientific in anyway:
Our cars have turbos. Turbos suck up gas, therefore not going into turbo will use less gas?
I believe that lugging the car (even though it's less fuel efficient to do it) will result in more gas saved than say shifting at 3-3.5k and going into turbo. That's just my own opinion drawn from my experiences.
I've found that if I were to drive normally, with spirited bursts now and then, I can only realistically get around 350 kms. Which I think really sucks :-(

a large part of turbo spool is driven by exhaust gas temps right? So that would increase your overall efficiency I'd guess (actually using the turbo, but conservatively, not high engine load)
But really, if you're accelerating like a grandma you probably wont be in a lot of boost by 3k anyways. Do you have a boost gauge?

I attended the Apex Driving Experience @Mosport - filled up the tank at Sunoco in Bowmanville [~25kms before the track?] - and I managed to get exactly 250km out of the entire tank before I had less than 1L left to run.
Next goal: 25L/100km!
I am sure I can do it!
*smile*
P.S. I have also managed to get 11.2L/100 on highway driving - VERY long distances. That's the lowest so far for me..
