just bulbs and ballasts.... I eventually replaced them entirely with e-codes.
If you ever go that route, you could save some dough by getting the european A4 halogen e-codes as opposed to the european S4 ones.
Some hids (like the Auserwalds) have separate ballasts and igniters. But almost all after market hids have them as a 1 piece ballast.
I've gone through several sets of bulbs, (4300k, Ultinons, SSP 6000k) and found that the best bulbs for the money are from AutoLamps-Online. In particular, the G.E. 10000k D2S bulbs. Awesome colour and brightness using Stage 3 50W german-made Auserwald ballasts. They rock. and for $162/pair, you can't beat em for that temperature range. Do it right the first time and go Stage 3 with these bulbs. You can thank me later.

http://www.autolamps-online.com/products/orderform.htm</a

I have a Silver S4, i think e-codes look very plain on a silver car...
Just going to stick with the OEMS. But i do want HID. So all i need are the balasts and ballasts (i assume the ballasts come equipped with all needed wireing). Do you know if it is ok to run HID though our stock Halogen projectors?

yup, it's fine to do that... all the wiring is plug/play ...but....
but to get the wiring from the power to the ballasts, back to the bulbs requires some minor surgery to the bulb hatch door. You can either drill a 3/4" hole or (the preffered method) you can clip a rectangular section off the side of the hatch. Either way, you have to seal it wil silicon once you finish installing.
and i disagree with the comment about e-codes looking plain on a silver S4. I have a silver 00 as well and it just looked ghey with the orange reflectors IMO =).

no my ballasts were purchased separately from SPP in California.
The ballasts alone are around $300-350 USD?.. i can't remember exactly. Some around here have gone with a much more affordable McCulloch HID kit (includes bulbs and ballasts). But I beleive those are only 35W ballasts. If you want the brightest and clearest light output, go my way. If you want to save some dough and simply want hids at a cheap price get the 6000k McCullochs. But my ballasts come with a 3 year warranty.
keep in mind, e-codes have better optics and increased light output of standard N.A. spec housings. so it's not just about the looks.

You can do it, but definitely not ideal....
because the reflectors and projector lens are not designed to throw out that much light generated by HID. As a result, the light will be less focused and more dispersed, possibly generating more glare to oncoming traffic.
