The tranny was so messed up I ended buying a 2nd tranny ; all pieces together would have cost 4800$+taxes (2nd gear, brass / syncro / sliders, torsen differential, ...).

Needed new tranny, clutch kit, and while I was at it, decided to go with 7 lbs lightened flywheel. My setup costed $2k less then your tranny. Thanks to Trac Racing for the tranny and clutch kit, and thanks to one of my friends who did my tranny instal for cheap.

What's the story, what led to failure? I'm wondering if small lateral movement in my shifter on gas/of gas in 2nd & 4th and is a sign my syncro's are gonna bite it....
Peace,
Peace,

Good news for you too! I'm glad you could have your car repaired rapidly for a good price.
2K less than my tranny? How do you know how much I've paid my tranny, I didn't even see you or talked to you?! Or you may have good informer hehehe... I found a slightly used tranny for 2000$ canadian. I was lucky. The cheapest one after that was near Bangor, Maine and they were asking 2700$US for it. The other possibility was to pay 4800$ to Audi for a couple pieces and rebuilt the one I had ; I chose to buy the 2nd one and a rebuilder in the States in offering me 700$US for my old broken tranny.
The Drive Train Stabilizer is doing a great job, it makes shift crisp and precise, no tranny movement even with 400 pounds of torque. The clutch is simply the most amazing clutch I ever tested in my life ; it grabs like crazy. In fact, it's an Audi RS4 clutch at the base with an additionnal lining of carbon/kevlar on top, making it stronger. It is rated for 600 lbs.ft and it's perfect.

The EDL actually does apply brakes for short moment of time on takeoffs... It costs you a bit in term of time on the 1/4 mile. I like 1/4 mile track btw.
By fooling the computer, you can disable the EDL (you can't simply unplug the ABS or remove the fuse as the computer will put you in "rough road mode" and will cut the power. When EDL is off, yes the tires spin, the car goes a bit sideways on the takeoff but absolutely nothing "interfear" with the car so at the end, I end up with approx 0.1 less and a better trap speed of 1-2 mph. I never been able to go in the 12s with the EDL on btw.

1x APR Snub Mounts (it's a motor mount) : 49$US from APR or ECS Tuning.
1x Drive Train Stabilizer (DTS) : 279$US from Autospeed and 349$US from AWE-Tuning.
It does remove almost all motor / tranny movement from the shifter, actually the whole car is absorbing the shock. It does translate into crisp and precise shifting, ultra-smooth suddent WOT / acceleration, etc. It is *BY FAR* the most "underestimated" / "underrated" (?? sous-estimé in French) mod available for our car. At the same time, it's good for your tranny.
