yeah but you have to leave the key in the loop which makes steeling your car a piece of cake.

Default Amount of heat the engine generates in 5 minutes of idling...

nothing compared to the amount of heat in 1 minute of driving. Go let your car idle for 8 minutes, get in, crank heat. You might have a bit.

Next morning, get it, start it up, give it 30s just to get oil moving, then go. Within 1-2km's you'll have heat coming out of it, and the engine will start moving the temp gauge.

It's nice on the -20C days, give the car a chance to move the oil around and warm up the heated seats... but still 1 min of driving is much more effective. You are generating heat cause you're using a lot more fuel.

I forget the negative impacts it has on the engine components.

Default This doesn't seem to make any sense to me...

The whole point of not driving the car when it's cold is to avoid moving the parts of the engine when the oil and lubriaction is cold.

So moving engine parts when cold = bad.

Therefore if you hop into the car and start driving right away, you're using the engine while not having the lubricants working optimally, and this would cause engine wear, not to mention turbo damage.

So I don't see how idling the car to get it warmed up before actually driving the car can be worse than not idling at all.

Has my logic been completely wrong all these years?
