Default trouble getting homelink to work on my B5 S4?

Have standard Sears craftsman garage door openers.

I've had no success in getting the homelink system to work them (I have two separate doors).

I've held the 1 and 3 button's down for 30 seconds until the light flashed then hit the red code emit button on the door opener and then hit the 1 button on the homelink visor but it doesn't pick up the code.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Default Hmm...

Are you following the instructions in the book exactly? I seem to recall there's a slightly different way of doing it for Canadian garage doors because we use rolling codes here. There was a section in the manual, I believe, that said, "If you live in Canada, do this..."

Default Yes, I am using the section that talks about rolling code door openers.

I have a 2001.5 S4 but have the manual for a 2001 S4...I'm assuming nothing would have changed in the manual with regards to this aspect of the car.

Default Go to Homelinks website and use those instructions.

I recall when setting mine up you used the remote and keep pressing it until homelink picks the signal up. Then hit the button on the garage door opener to learn it to the car.

Anyways, I found the Homelink site to have instructions that actually worked

Default If I recall correctly, after pressing the "teach" square button on

the garage door opener, you need to press and hold the homelink button of choice until it flashes or the signals flash or something like that. If it doesn't work the first time, do it again. Seems like it took me 2 or 3 tries before it worked. Helps if the car is inside the garage, closer to the opener antenna too.

Default Ding

I believe it's a rolling code and there's a separate way to do this, should be explained in the owners manual for your car.

Default I have a B6, but this is the procedure I used for rolling code...

1) Press and hold desired homelink button until solid.
2) Point remote at Right headlight until parking lights flash. (maybe different for B5)
3) Press "teach" or "learn" button on Garage Door opener unit (The actual motor)
4) Press and hold homelink button from step 1

Good luck!
