Default UPDATE: Rear deck lid cover...

As in the rear bulkhead cover had to be installed for safety rules, the rear deck lid needs to be covered too because it is full of holes and there is no use in having a new safe rear bulkhead when just above there are holes in the deck lid.

The upper deck lid above the rear bulkhead.

Because we already have a roll cage installed in the car it was decided to make the deck lid in two sections so as to be able to manoeuvre inside the car and in between the roll cage bars. Here we have the passenger side.

The driver’s side. Notice we had to bend the sheet to make it fit. Later we had to add another bend on each side.

Here we have both of them side by side.

Because the rear deck lid is so uneven we used three little aluminium blocks to help us hold the sheet in place and somewhat level.

Here are the three aluminium blocks. This picture also shows why we need to cover the OE lid with a new cover made from an aluminium sheet.

Finally the final version with its double folds and painted flat black to reduce glare in the rear window.

Installed and secured in place by mainly by rivets.

From the inside looking at the glare of the sun… Not bad the flat black paint! Also we used aluminium M5 bolts and aluminium washers/nuts (gold in colour) to secure the sheet near the back side of the cover because it was too close to the window to use the rivet machine. Of course a generous amount of body caulking was used to prevent vibrations and to seal between the car’s structure and the new sheet.
