Default watch our for this spam...

... Now I would call myself internet savy but I wasn't prepared for the email I got that looked like it was from the Royal Bank of Canada.

I suspected something and checked the link listed in my email agaist the rbcroyalbank.com website and the link confirmed to be ok, so I followed the link in the email and it turns out it was to some third party site that now knows I clicked on the link. I immediately disconnected my computer from the internet. But the dirty deed might have been done.

So, this spam email made it through my spam filters and it looked like it was from a trusted email address and the URL in the email was confirmed as ok on the internet, yet the contents of the email were bad.

If you didn't notice the website redirection, you might proceed to enter more personal information.

I guess the lesson here is that if you're not expecting an email from a source, you should suspect it, even if it looks like its from a trusted source.

Hope this helps.

Default If you clicked on it you're probably okay

What's not okay is if you went to the site and filled out the information which it was asking.

Phishing... the new crap that we have to put up with.

Default so when was the last time your bank sent you a legit email asking for personal info?

Exactly, never. That should tell you something.

Default dont worry, the only thing you have done is

confirmed to them that your e-mail and ip address are real. Be prepared for a flood of crap for the next month or so.
