I think this happened in the Ultramar/Sunoco/Petro Canada deal a few years back....
I believe Ultramar bought up the Sunoco franchises in Quebec a few years back and since Sunoco was the only one selling higher octane gas and Ultramar decided not to carry it on, Petro Canada in Quebec stepped up to the plate to carry the higher octane gas. So in Quebec the 94 octane can be had at Petro Canada and in Ontario at Sunoco. I don't know about the rest of the country.

Paid 100.1 cents/litre at a PetroCan in Montreal...
near Jean Talon and Papineau. This happened in the winter last year. this was the hi-grade gas. This is the most expensive I ever saw it, and it was only once - thank god!
