What's the lowdown on the 3.2 engine?

Getting mixed signals on engines.
I've had the A4 1.8t, i've had the tt (225hp) and i'm driving the S4 4.2. I've never driven the 3.2 but I hear it's not worth the money.
Can anyone shed some insight based on personal experience with this engine? Will I hate the 3.2 (A4 or A5) after coming off the 4.2?

I really enjoy the low end torque 2,000RPM. The 2.0 I've tried were all chicktronics and it's hard for me to compare.
I've always owned the V6
- B5 2.8
- B6 3.0
- B7 3.2
I get very decent mpg averaging 8.5L/100 on highway and unless I abuse the right pedal I get reasonable city consumption.
I did have one issue with the engine dieing on me but it turned out to be a wire harness that was stuck and was replaced.

4.2L all the way, plus you'll miss the sound if you love the sound of the V8.
Though handling-wise (as this is still something part of the overall performance package) the new A4 probably handles better than the previous generation S4 and will very good with an aftermarket suspension when it's available.

how will you not be disappointed.
Thanks to Alex, I had an opportunity to drive both the S5 and A5. S5 is great - more or less same power than I'm driving now - but A5, while peppy, was no S5.
You'll justify it for a bit, but eventually you'll be so pissed off that you pvssied out b/c of $7 of gas a week.

if it were ME I tend to lean towards the 2.0T as the current 2.0 has more torque (258lbs/ft) than the 3.2 (243lbs/ft) PLUS you will have some "GIACability" (i just coined that phrase!) to add to these #'s...figuring with the old 2.0 you would get a conservative 240hp 260tq (up from 200 207) with the stage 1 flash.
when the GIAC is available for the new 2.0...call it 310 tq, what was your 4.2?![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Not bad for a 2.0T my friend!
