Default Will the A3 ever be available with a 2.0T, manual tranny and quattro?

This to me seems like it would be the top selling combination...yet its not offered.

Default Nothing now, only with DSG

Numbers clearly show that the demand for manual transmission is dropping every year which is unfortunate. They should make manual cars at least $5K cheaper than an auto... that might make manuals more common

Default DSG is good enough for me

It shifts faster than I can, and gives me the control I want. Even if there was a manual, I'd still consider the DSG.

Default Not enough profit margin for Audi...

...the less loaded the car is, the less money they make.
At least one reason why we don't see a lot of cheaper models Europeans do. Same for all the European car makers.
For example, in Europe you can buy a Benz with cloth seats, and a manual tranny...just about everything is optional on European cars over there.; lucky to get an engine and wheels!

BTW, has anyone done a cost comparision of repairing the DSG to an old-fashioned manual tranny?
New technology is fine, imo, as long as you don't have to mortgage the house to fix a small leak or some-such.
New cars are becoming like F1; every once in a while they'll have to step back to see if all this technology (read:cost) is worth it.

Default Audi Canada should offer the 2.0T Quattro without DSG and sunroof for about 34,5 k$

But they want to load it with these 2 costly mandatory options to price it higher.

Default Audi Canada/US doesn't want to sell a car without a sunroof

Like how they don't want to sell a premium cloth sport seat as cars have better residuals with leather, sunroof and all of these other things that makes a 'premium' vehicle here vs other things.

Default True but if you look at the general population, do they want cloth or leather?

Leather, because people in general equate cloth seats as being cheap unfortunately.

Having said that the Audi's with the smaller engine don't even have full leather seats! Not sure about the B8 though.

Default I love the DSG...

I have it on my GTI, I also have a 6 speed TT. If I had to choose between the two I would take the DSG even spending the extra cash and I am part Dutch and Scotch! I have driven manuals for 32 years, I didn't think I would see the day I would prefer an auto over a manual. Think of the DSG as a manual first and an auto for your wife, child or for us men stuck in traffic.
