Von Platen, 44, worked for BMW for many before joining Porsche in '97. He speaks with a French accent, as he was born in France to two Germans. Before heading PCNA, he was the head of Porsche Cars of France.
Von Platen replaced Peter Schwartzenbauer as head of Atlanta-based Porsche Cars North America effective April 1, 2008. As for Audi content, Schwartzenbauer left Porsche to become the world wide Director of Sales and Marketing for Audi AG.
He may be reunited with Porsche, should they buy the majority share of VW they are looking to finalize asap.
