extended warranty for my 996 after a private sale) - he was nice. The sales people seem ok.
I bought a 996 privately and 2 weeks later my tranny (wife's 996 tip) went into limp mode.
They called me to tell me I needed a new tranny to the tune of $12,000 and Porsche wouldn't cover it because I abused the car. It was still under factory warranty. I told them it seems to be an electronic issue because of how it happened (no noises, etc...). It turns out, a Porsche regional rep came by, laughed at them for diagnosing a bad tranny by "smelling" the tranny fluid, reset the TCU and all was well.
Never went back.
When I got my S5, I traded my 996 to the Audi Exchange. Audi took it over to Porsche to have some warranty work done under my extended warranty before the car was officially sold.
The Porsche Exchange called the Audi Exchange complaining that they couldn't get into the car because the key fob wasn't working and the customer (me) shaved the door handles and there was no key hole. I had put body colored plugs in to hide the lock opening - a very common thing to do. the lock was clearly visible.
I wouldn't let them TOUCH any car I still owned.
I'd buy from them if they had something I wanted but stay away for service.
