Default Anyone use their Audi for towing? I need to replace my

V70 volvo and am thinking of a S4 Avant. The total weight of my trailer and Elise is only 2200 lbs, but Audi doesn't officially condone towing with anything but the Allroad.

Default "only 2200#" I'm thinking that would be a mistake to attempt..

I don't think it's as much an issue of the drivetrain handling it, but more an issue of there being no frame to attach the hitch to. Maybe you could get away with it for a jet-ski or motorcycle trailer, but that's about it.

The manufacturer should know something about the cars they build. If they thought you could tow 2000#, they might say you could tow 1,000 allowing a "safety factor". After all, I'd hate for something to happen to your Elise after waiting so long to get it.

Default Bad idea.

Only hitch available (Da'Lan #DH247414) for an S4 Avant has a Class 1 rating... which is anything up to 2000lbs. Gross Trailer Weight and 200lbs. Tongue Weight.

That is what the hitch itself can handle... I would suspect the car, on a very hot day, would not be very happy pulling anything heavier than what you would normally load inside the cabin.

You need a truck or an allroad, imo.

Default Rob@GRD is selling his allroad 6 speed with factory hitch.....

The allroad will pull your car just fine. And Rob's car is a nice 6 speed, Audi Assured I believe. Could probably be purchased with his 18" RGRs too.

allroad with factory hitch is rated for 3300 lbs.
