Default Can anyone help me with a Timing belt situation?

I have my entire car taken apart, and new waterpump and thermostat put in, but I ran into a problem with reassembling the timing belt.

No matter what I do, I cannot seem to get the crank aligned correctly. I've tried everything, but I cannot seem to get it 100% TDC.

Is there anyone in the local area that might be able to give me a hand? Theres a case of beer in it for ya

Oh, and I live In lombard

Default Oops! It seems that you goofed. There is a tool you should have purchased before doing this job.

It locks the cams an crank relative to each other so that they don't change their relationship while you change the belt.

Sorry, but I don't know how to cure the situation that this has caused. If I did, I would be happy to help.

Good luck!!

Default contact me if you need help, i did it about 2 weeks ago on mine.

when you are aligning the the timing marks the top mark will be dead on and the bottom mark on the 1.8 will be a quarter of an inch of, thats normal, that happened to me i was concerned but my Audi techs told me that was normal
