On my way cross-country (Boston to San Diego), stopped off in Chicago. GREAT CITY!

I was staying at a freinds in Linkin Park area and got a parking ticket on N. Lake Shore Drive. My car is registered in MA and I'll soon be living in CA.

Is Chicago PD pretty diligent on tracking you down to pay parking tickets? (I know, its only a $50 parking ticket, but...)

My Gf just got a collections notice for a ticket from 5 years ago. Her car was registered in MI back then but she already lived here.

If I was you I'd just toss it out...if you do get it in few years note that it will be $100, not $50.

It's not the amount but the fact that you've got a collection. Collections are BAD cause they mean that you're not just 30 days late, or even 60 days late - you're WAY late and you're refusing to pay. (that's how a lender sees it)
