could cold temps cause the e-brake to seize?

Default thanks for the info. the ebrake didn't feel right yesterday... less resistance when I pull up on it

Would Robyn be able to tell me if the part was updated?

Default You won't get an accurate reading off of bare metal.

Bare metal doesn't emit enough infrared radiation to get even close to an accurate reading. You would be better off with a contact pyrometer, thermometer or thermocouple.
