Default Oh, and here is a link that may help you understand this. The UCR event takes into effect

estimates of unreported crime, due to this exact issue.

Default And perhaps the easiest one to understand and one that best relates in bullet form

Points in mostly bullet form

Default Another thing to consider: Ask any suburban Chicago cop where the large majority of the

their burglars, car thiefs, etc come from..

Chicago.

A lot of the criminals from Chicago come to the suburbs to rob homes, cars, businesses. Go where nobody is around and the take is high.

Sure, those the statistics remain the same as the crime happened in the suburb in question, but the criminal is not part of that community. If I murdered a person in Wyoming with a population of 50, the crime would be attributed to that town, not Mundelein. On top of that, the murder rate of the town would be reported at 2% that year.

Yet besides my supposed act, this may be the safest town in America.

Funny story about this: Buddy who is a cop recently had a break in at a huge home on the North Shore. Criminal got away on foot but left the car he'd stolen and all the items he'd stolen from seven homes that day in the stolen car. My cop friend checks the garmin on the cars dash and hits "Go Home" and it gives the criminals address on the North side of Chicago. They go to the home and wait about an hour, and up pulls a taxi with the guy in it. Pretty funny bust.

Default according to city-data.com, lake forest had a murder in 2001.

it only shows the last 10 years. I would be surprised if the statement that many suburbs have never had a murder is actually true. I guess it depends on how you define many.

when you consider the numbers, 1 murder in a year in lake forest is equal to 5 per 100,000 people. Chicago is about 15-20 murders per 100,000 people. So really, doesn't sound that bad to me.

http://www.city-data.com/city/Lake-Forest-Illinois.html</a
