and a mole is a fixed number of atoms (6.022 x 10^23, to be specific). It is like saying...
that a dozen is not the number of eggs in the carton. Well it sort of it. It is just a "unit" that allows the use of smaller numbers.
12 dozen is smaller than 144.
1 mole is smaller than 6.023 x 10^23
