Default Gee, I wonder why my right-front brake was making so much noise Sunday PM at BHF???...

All I can say is

HOLY SCHNICKIES!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't have believed that 7 run sessions could COMPLETELY trash a set of Pagid Orange brake pads, but here's proof:

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/10291/cimg0468_1.jpg">

Moral of the story: check your brakes before EVERY run.

Moral of the story #2: 4000lb cars running on a a race track are hard on brakes (Duh!!)

Anyone care to suggest another brake pad for me at ABCC?

Hawks?

Carbotech?

Don't track the car? ;-)

Default [EDIT!!]2 events on my Carbotech XP8s and I still have plenty of pad left

my car is ~4000lbs soaking wet

[edit]upon closer inspection... I don't have as much pad left as I thought. the outers look ok and I still have some life in them, but the inner pads on both sides are roached pretty good (what's that about, btw?).

anyway... I'm thinking xp9s next time around.

OK, 1 vote for Carbotech. The Hawks Bill S. gave me last year lasted through 2 events, too. Hmmm.

Default And those Hawks already had two events on 'em.

FWIW, I've been very happy with the XP-8's.

Default To me, that's one of the most difficult things to learn.

How to find the fastest, smoothest way around the track without overheating the engine or the brakes.

Default Nah I logged-in with an old account. The car doesn't need more HP, it needs

less weight. The weight of our cars makes brake and tire life extra-short. Oh to shed a thousand pounds or so...

Default Porterfield R4S. NO fade whatsoever and like new yet after

Blackhawk, Gingerman and a full day of auto-xing.

I'll put another 1/2 day of ABCC South on them tomorrow and a full day at Blackhawk on Thursday and report back.

Default Burnt Toast! Wow..but definitely good advice...

..if you're running your car hard.

Check EVERYTHING...oil &amp; coolant as well.
