Fuji Heavy Industry's automotive group may separate the engineering division from the marketing group, but the products tend to focus too much on functional performance at the expense of consumer-driven parameters found in other marques, such as NVH management. This may be great from the AutoX or track enthusiast's perspective but it is less desirable for the typical consumers.

my family has owned a decent number of 90s-early 2000 subaru's and I will totally agree that they aren't as nice as the industry leading Audi interior, but they are on par with those in their price segments.
Personally, I have removed most of the NVH benefits of my audi (although it is still nicer than my VW).
I am just saying that they have good engineering and deliver a strong performing vehicle at a good price point, and I think that the whole 'rice' write off is complete crap.
