you'd be surprised, the brakes on the M5 is are actually a very simple design to save weight...
the fronts are 1-piston. yes, you heard that right, one piston. Very large 1-piston Teves calipers, floating I believe. The rotors I know for sure are floating. They look kinda like the brakes you'd find in an econobox except scaled up to godzilla size up front. I don't know much about brake design, just stuff I read on forums but maybe a few pics will help? There's also this diagram I found: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=NB91&mospid=48421&btnr= 34_1431&hg=34&fg=05
Think these will be an easy pad swap job, given the simple design? btw, I had the wheels powdercoated to look like they have brake dust on them

even w/o the brakes, I still doubt it'll get under 4k lbs :)
Someone on the m5 board put their car on the scale with the same options as mine and w/o the driver, it was almost 4200 lbs! Talk about fat pig. Well at least it doesn't feel like it so much on the track.
Anyhow, maybe I'll take you up on the offer regarding the brakes. Are you coming to autobahn again this coming monday? or got any free time this weekend or the next?
