Default :D so true, it's hard to compare any car in it's class to US domestics.

...and by the way no offence, (did I ask you how much you make? No. I don't care) but I know few guys (regular techs) working in BMW / Audi service and even they're not hurt either, they don't make $100K

It's nothing to argue about IMHO $120/h labor rate (on non lux. models) is simply sick.

Default what ????

I can't say dealer techs are not skilled because they do great job on my car every time I'm in the service (well meybe except one guy I met in McGrath) but I know few independent shops working on German cars and have their techs going to Germany for training. Not to mention that they are enthusiasts working with BMWs / Audis for 25/20 + years.

So I doubt that it's fair to say that one is better than another.

Audi is considered a lux brand in the states, maybe not in Europe, but here they are

Default a good majority of dealers will have far more trained techs

then an independent. Im not saying that all Audi dealer techs are the best, but a majority will be more knowledgable then any independent, especially on the newer cars which are far more advanced then most cars the indepedents work on

Default You WERE trying to argue a point, correct?

(e.g. Audi is not a luxury brand, techs should be making > $100k/yr, etc.)

If you have first-hand knowledge about what goes into running a dealership, then please enlighten us (or better yet, enlighten Laurel) on how to reduce end costs to the customer. I suspect you are just complaining about prices though. I await your response chock full of smilies and winks...

Default That's the answer I wanted to hear

Things like that would make me bring my car to a dealer or an independent that would do things similar to your statement above.

Bravo!
