Whats up everyone....I'm currently a vw owner with a 03'20th. I am looking to get into a used S4 possibly, and am wondering if anyone can give me any pointers on what to look for. I have always loved the B5 platform. What about mileage on these cars? For instance should I stay away from high mileage over 100k? Is there any particular year favored over the other? I've been a vw owner all my life so please excuse the rookie questions. Thanks for any help. PS if anyone knows of any cars forsale in the Chicago area that I should look at let me know. TIA!

i guess its how you treat the car, imho.
now you will need deep pockets to afford mods on the car...thats for sure!

If you have a stock S4 and treat it well, you should get a good result. The problems that I have read about are when folks chip their car and then don't warm up and cool down their cars the right way.
Chipping has also been proven to kill the turbos a ton faster than keeping it stock.
YMMV.

i have been chipped for 3+ years now (30,000 miles). not a single issue to date with my turbos (knock on wood).
i guess it really doesnt matter if your stock or chipped, as long as you do take good care of your car with the proper cool downs and warm ups, as you mentioned. and dont drive like a bat out of hell in every gear with full on boost.
there are a handful of guys on the S4 forum with well over 100,000 miles on the original turbos, chipped.
