Default IMHO, traffic patterns can be ranked this way:

Ingress/egress to and from the city from the suburbs. Best to worst: I55 (Stevenson, from the south)>I90 (Northwest Tollway, from the NW)>290 (Eisenhower, from the west).

North/south routes generally parallel with the city. Best to worst: 294 (Tristate) > 53/355 (North/South Tollway) > 94 (Edens) > 90/94 (Kennedy).

Frankly, from 7:00-9:00 am and from 4:00-7:00 pm, they all suck. Rt 12 through the Deer Park area seems to suck at all hours, although its worse in the summer.

I think the areas Ken means are the ones he mentioned in his initial response.

Default cool

Yeah, there seems to be more new construction happening in the cities you mention above. A new Centex townhome development in Algonquin, for example, is about 18 miles away from work.

My current commute here in Austin is about 11 miles and 20 minutes, and it's not bad. I could deal with a little longer if it meant having a nice home.

Who do you work for in Schaumburg?

Agree 100%. I'm lucky that I reverse commute on 55 on days when I go into the office
