Many beautiful 356s @ Porsche Club Concours event near Grayslake today (Major BWW)---->
 "Potter's Picnic" Concours
The longest-running Porsche Club of America regional event in the country.
This year's get-together included about sixteen remarkably beautiful 356s from around the area (including one from Iowa)

Lovely setting at a farm near Grayslake with hospitality including brats, beer and such for a small charge upfront (Dave Press take note).

This car was restored from a rusted, rotted specimen to virtual perfection. Car spent more than four months "in the tank" for rust removal. Metal replacement/refinishing work was fully documented and took more than a year of daily work according to the owner.

I just shot interiors on the cabriolets as they struck me as works of art, every one:

Ah, there! (Apparently you've got to be a good 60 pounds overweight to be a concours judge!)

So, how'd I do? Score was 95.6% based on points achieved/points possible. This is up from 89.3% in the prior-event concous judging. The new score suits me as a documentation of the condition of the car at this point in time. I'm not all that into the whole concours mentality, so I'll probably just retire here.
I finished fourth in my class (B), but I did come away with a nice hat...

(Oh, and we won a 22-pound watermelon when my daughter correctly guessed its weight!)

I overheard the owner of the silver one saying *she* needed to find a truckstop...
...on her return to Iowa because her CB antenna had broken. (I'm not kidding.)
I finished 4th, but I think there were only 6-7 cars in "B" class, so that's not alot to brag about. Then again, "scoring" is highly subjective, and all three of the guys who finished ahead of me are LONGtime PCA members, and one of 'em was in charge of the event. Not saying favoritism was at work... but some other entrants said exactly that. Still, it was a good day, and the cars, as you said, were stunning.
