Default well there's two options...

one is up in MN. i talked to the owner yesterday. i'm waiting for pictures today. a friend of mine bought another car near there and met this guy while she was hanging out. she told me about it. driving 400 miles is really appealing to me. the car is a 91 8v alpine white. the motor needs a new timing belt and the tires are bald. neither of which matter to me as long as it gets me home.

the second is down in FL. the car is a 91 8v in black. a few dings here and there, but it comes w/ a couple of extras. the owner is pretty negotiable on the price and is already lower than i expected to spend. i can find a cheap flight to FL. i just need to drive 1200 miles back. i'm not really liking that idea. his car is going to his mechanic today to be inspected so i wont be left stranded in kentucky or something

my plan is to get to wherever i need to go this saturday and have the car back in IL by sunday.
i should know by the end of the day today or tomorrow which one i want to get. i just want to get it out of the way so i don't have to worry about it anymore dammit!!!! it's been kind of stressful searching the country and talking to a bunch of people trying to find the 'perfect' car.

Default yeah. the guy in milwaukee did apparently.

everytime we'd set a date to meet up, he'd never answer his phone. we rescheduled 4 times. i'm done with that. the seller should be chasing after the buyer, not the other way around. the car was nice and close, but hey, whatever. there's other ones out there.

Default well, I know you are eager to move...

but remember you gotta live with the decision... so make sure you make a good one...

what color would you prefer? I would imagine the florida car is cleaner in terms of rust, etc...

I vote florida... even though the drive will suck... but take pics, it should be fun...

Default true, however....

i'll be repainting the car regardless of what color it is so in the end it doesn't matter. i'm looking for the car with no rust, minimal dings, and is relatively clean so i don't have to mess with it too much this year. i figure i can put in the engine, suspension, and seats and have a fun little auto-x car and maybe i can clean it up enough to put in a show or two. next fall/winter will be the complete overhaul when i repaint/reupholster everything.

i'm still waiting on more pics from the MN car. i agree that a southern car will probably have less rust, but the MN guy assured me there isnt any rust and the body is in excellent condition. the FL car has scratches all over the paint and noticeable dents in a few spots.

the deciding factors are going to be overall condition and cost. if i can get the MN for the same price as the FL, then i'm going for MN because it will cost me less in travel expenses. if the MN still wants too much and i save money with traveling, i'll go to FL.

one cool thing about the MN is it's white. when i repaint the car it will look completely different. the black car most people probably wouldn't even look twice at the originality of the color

we'll see. i would like to think i'll have it figured out in the next day or two and have a car by the weekend. i do have to live with it, so i do want to get something i'll enjoy. it is a project though, so if i don't like it, i'll have to mod something until i do

Default update about one car....

i got a bunch of pictures of the MN car. it appears that the previous owner went on an offroad excursion with it before trading it in to this place. the car is absolutely covered in mud. inside, outside, engine. it's disgusting.
the seller is looking for a little bit too much for the condition of the car, and he did say there is rust on one fender (that would be replaced regardless). i asked for more pictures and if it ws possible to clean it up so i can get a better idea of blemishes. i also told him there's no way i'm paying what he's asking. he needs to go down at least $500.
the FL car is supposed to be going to the mechanic today to be inspected.
either way, both cars will need to have a few dents removed. both cars will need brand new paint.
i'm just waiting for more pictures on the MN car and a mechanical update on the FL car.
