Sad part is that they've been proven to cause more rear-end accidents, due to ppl braking when they should be going through the intersection. Everyone in Chicago knows the yellows are so short and it's inevitable that you will be "running" the light.

I want ones at milwaukee/ashland and milwaukee/halsted/grand. It is one thing to run the yellow. But I will be the first car in line and my light will go green and 3 more cars go through. THEN the turning traffic has to complete their turns. So meanwhile 10 seconds have passed on my green.

Screw them. Run the light I HOPE you get a ticket. All of these streets have 25 mpg speed limits so either you are speeding or following to close or a combo thereof if you rear end someone who stops when the light goes yellow.

And yes, I have been living in the city proper for years. And yes I commute from my house to downtown each day. And it pisses me the hell off.

though I agree. the red light runners in this city are obscene.

got screwed by one in Lawndale over where Ogden Ave/22Nd Street meet. Its a long intersection and if you are going at moderate speeds, go thru the light at the turn of yellow, by the time you make it thru the middle of the intersection it is already red, blink blink, you get a ticket. I think they gotta be programed better and also I think they should be contestable. Not sure if they are and if they are do they play video? I don't know.
