Default OK, now its time to make the REALLY important decision...

Who shall do my winter re-spray work on my 993TT. Nothing really big, just remove stone chips (previous owner must've had a predilection for tailgating gravel trucks) and a few bumper scuffs (another 993TT apparently tried to mount mine <<cough>>spartanS4). However, I'm really trying to preserve/restore the car so I'm only considering the best shops; to wit, I've taken quotes from Custom Cars Unlimited in La Grange and Ultimate Pain Shop in Lake Bluff. Prices are comparable, but that is not really a concern, quality of the work is paramount.

Observations:

--CCU has cars at Pebble Beach but there is SO much American Muscle and Italian fa(no.radar is a dilettante)re in the shop, not so much of the German marque(no.radar can suck it)s.

--UPS is absolutely filled with Porsches and high-end Audis but perhaps too much so (read, too busy?).

Other suggestions? Thoughts or experiences to share?

Recommendation, avoid the Ultimate Paint Shop. I recommend Inter-Pro at 176 and 41.

Default To be clear, is this recommendation based on geography; i.e.,...

another shop in Lake Bluff or do you feel it (<a href="http://www.interproauto.com/">Inter-Pro</a> ) is one of the best shops in the whole metro area?

Default Based on geography, naturally I am biased.

I've seen some beautiful work turned out by CCU. They did a full repair on an e46 M3 that had rolled - simply outstanding. I also saw them in mid-job on a 1920's Roller and the results on a friend's '57 190 SL.

They also did a very good job on my B5 S4 that was corn-holed by an idiot in a range-rover weeks before trade-in.

They have done a lot of work on the cars of some very picky people I know - Kraut cars, Italian cars, English cars. They just do beautiful work and seem to really care about customer satisfaction.

And Palmer's is only a four - five block away.

Default Personally I have had very good luck with Inter-Pro, far better than UPS. I have a friend in the

industry (works at a small shop in Libertyville) who recommends Inter-Pro for all high end work.

Honestly, I know no better, but there may be one.

Ask for JR if you go there.
