Pulling radio code with VAG

Anyone know how to do this? Just bought a 96 A4 2.8, radio is in "safe" mode, the card is missing from the radio manual. Audi said I needed to take it to a dealer to have the code pulled from the computer via the VAG tool. Also, does my key have an immobilizer chip? need to make copies. thanks

I don't believe it can be retrieved with VAG. It should be recorded in the dealer service records.

I would guess they just said that because they won't give that info out over the phone. They only do it in person.

Can't be pulled with a VAG

Dealer will need the VIN # as well as the serial number from the radio. It's helpfull to have the car there as well. Your car is pre-immobilizer as well.
